Bridget’s Bunnies Pocket Pal Instructions
Level: Easy plus written in US terms
Materials:
50 grams #4 worsted weight yarn ( your colour of choice)
25 grams pink #4 4 worsted weight ( ears and mouth/nose)
Scrap black yarn for eyes
*9-12 mm safety eyes/nose*
4.00 mm hook
Tapestry needle
Fibre fill

Special stitches
dec ( decrease) insert hook in front loop of next stitch, then insert hook in back loop of next stitch ,yo, draw up through 2 loops on hook inc ( increase) 2 sc in one stitch
yarn under. yarn under method instead of yo ( yarn under makes a tighter fabric, less holes)
Special Techniques
Magic Ring: there are many tutorials on YouTube to create magic ring
Ch2 method:ch2 place required #of sc into 2nd chain from hook, do not join, go right into pattern from there
Notes:
Bridget’s Bunnies’ head and body are worked in 1 piece
Bunnies are worked in continuous rounds from bottom up, do not join unless instructed to, place marker in first of round as progress ( or leave a long tail to use as the marker.
Arms and ears are made separately, then sewn on
Stuff firmly, but not enough to see through the stitches
Bunnies are approximately 7” tall including ears, depending on yarn used
Magic ring is useful to begin body
Pocket Pal Pattern
Body/ head
Rnd 1: work 9 sc into a mr, pull tail tight, pm in first st (9sts)
Rnd 2: inc in each st around (18sts)
Rnd 3: [sc, inc] (27sts)
Rnd 4: [inc, sc 2sts]. (36 sts)
Rnd 5-13: sc each st (36 sts)
Rnd 14: [ sc 2 , dec] (27sts)
Rnd 15: [sc, dec] ( 18 sts)
Rnd 16: sc around (18sts)
Rnd 17: inc each st (36sts)
Rnd 18: [sc 3, inc]. (45sts]
Rnd 19-21: sc around [45sts] * if using safety nose insert middle front row 20*
Rnd 22: [ sc 3, dec]. (36sts). * safety eyes placed with 5 sts between on front
Rnd 23: [ dec, sc 2 ] (27sts)
Rnd 24: sc round (27sts)
Rnd 25: [sc 1, dec] (18sts) stuff body/head
Rnd 26: sc round (18sts) stuff more
Rnd 27: dec around (9sts).
At end of last rnd, join with sl st, fasten off wit 9” tail, using tapestry neede, weave tail through front loops of last round, pull gently to close and secure. Hide tail inside bunny
Arms
Rnd 1: 6sc into mr, pull tail tight, pm in first st (6sts)
Rnd 2-6 sc round (6sts)
At end of last rnd, join with sl st to first st, fasten off leaving a 9” tail. Using tapestry needle weave pinch the arm together and sew through stitches. Use the tail to sew the arms to sides of bunnie at junction of head and body.
Ears ( make 2 in body colour, and 2 in pink for inner ear)
Chain 7
Rnd 1:sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next, 5 dc in last st, reorient work, and going back up the other side of chain, dc in next, hdc in next 2, sc into next 2sts (15sts)
Fasten off with long tail for sewing to head ( about 4 sts apart on top of head)
Inner ear ( pink)
Repeat as outer ear, holding both pieces together, using long tail to sew inner to outer ear, weave the tail up between the two pieces
Eyes
Choice is yours to use safety eyes, black yarn to embroider or French knots
Nose( pink)
Middle of head, place 2-3 horizontal lines for nose, bring yarn to middle and make 1-2 verticle small stitches
Or use safety nose
Attach backpack clip to top center of the bunny
